The Walts television service is getting $200 million in new funding from Google, and it is looking for an additional $300 million.
The new financing comes from a group led by billionaire investor George Soros, and includes $50 million from Google Ventures and a $10 million round from the Google Capital Foundation.
Walts is looking to expand its reach and reach into emerging markets and to compete with Dish, CBS, Verizon FiOS, Cox, Charter and AT&T.
The service will offer streaming, on demand and video on demand to users in India, China, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Mexico City, Argentina and the United Kingdom.
The company has also announced plans to open up its video service to more people.
