If you’ve got a satellite dish or antenna for your TV, you’re likely wondering if you should buy an upgrade.
But according to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), that is actually a bad idea.
The commission has said it has received more than 4,000 complaints about TV antennas that don’t meet FCC standards.
“We’ve had more than 7,000 calls about these TV antenna issues since our launch in December,” Jessica Rosenworcel, an FCC spokesperson, told CBC News.
Rosenwortchen says the FCC is currently working with satellite manufacturers and others to address the problem.
In order to get an antenna to work, the antenna needs to be able to work with a TV channel that’s broadcasting.
But that isn’t always the case.
For example, some TV antennas, like those from Dish and DirecTV, don’t work with channels that aren’t broadcast on a particular TV channel.
If the antenna doesn’t work for your channel, you’ll need to get another one.
In the end, you could end up with a satellite that’s unusable.
Rosenpiegel says she’s already had several complaints about the issue.
“I have had more calls than I can count,” she said.
“So it’s a very common problem.”
Dish and other satellite companies are responding to the problem by working with the FCC to make sure their products are working with all of the channels on a given TV channel, Rosenworsch says.
“Dish and others are working to make this better and better, and we look forward to seeing more of this issue addressed by the FCC.”
Rosenworst of all, she says, the FCC may not be able give you an antenna upgrade at all, which would require you to go to a local satellite dealer.
It would take at least a few days of work to make your own antenna.
“This is a major problem that we’re not going to be solving by the time this issue is resolved,” she says.
Rosenwske says there are many other issues with TV antennas on the market that consumers could be having problems with, including: a lack of proper installation, and poor antenna installation.
If you’re having issues with your TV antenna, the best thing you can do is call your local antenna dealer, Rosenwsch says, “and make sure they’re doing everything they can to make it work.
If it’s not working, call us, we’ll help you.”
